MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı made a written statement regarding the new minimum wage announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Stating that MÜSİAD welcomes the increase in the minimum wage, President Asmalı said, "As MÜSİAD, we welcome the raising of the minimum wage to a net TRY 5,500 as of the second half of the year".
MÜSİAD President Asmalı made the following statements in his statement:
"The minimum wage, which rose to a net TRY 4,253.40 with the 50 percent increase made in December of last year, had unfortunately become insufficient at the point of protecting the purchasing power of our employees because of high inflation. In this context, we welcome the raising of the minimum wage to a net TRY 5,500 as of the second half of the year with the 30 percent increase that has been made.
As MÜSİAD, we had stated that an interim increase in the minimum wage was essential so that the sweat of the brow of not even a single one of our employees would be crushed by inflation. At this point, we extend our thanks primarily to our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and to the entire economic administration, which has not remained indifferent to the demands of the business world.
In addition to this; along with the fact that the tax exemption provided for the minimum wage will continue, the fact that TRY 100 support per worker will be given to the employer will lift a serious burden from our employers. As representatives of the real sector; we hope that the new minimum wage will be a means of good for both the employee and the employer segments, and we believe that it will make serious contributions to the positive growth process of our economy."
