MÜSİAD and TÜRES will support the employees of the food and beverage sector, which is going through a difficult period because of the pandemic, with food parcels.
A cooperation protocol on food parcel aid for the employees of the food and beverage sector was signed between the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) and the All Restaurants and Tourism Professionals Association (TÜRES). Within the framework of this protocol, food parcels in a number to be determined by MÜSİAD will be distributed to the sector employees in need identified by TÜRES.
The protocol ceremony was held with the participation of MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan and TÜRES President Ramazan Bingöl.
We must make use of every opportunity in order to reach those in need
Speaking at the signing ceremony, MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan stated that, as in many sectors, the companies and employees operating in the food and beverage sector are also going through a difficult period because of the pandemic. Kaan continued as follows: “We aim to expand as much as we can the food parcel aid project we launched in order to meet at least a part of the needs of our brothers and sisters who work in the food and beverage sector and who are struggling with financial difficulties because their workplaces are closed, and thus to reach as many people in need as possible. We believe that, until we get through this difficult period, every opportunity must be made use of so that those who have the means help our citizens who are in distress. As MÜSİAD, since the very beginning of the process we have seen that many of the campaigns we have carried out have given our people in difficulty at least a little breathing space, and for this reason we will continue to sustain similar aid through our members and our friends. We believe that we can overcome this period only by being united and by acting together. Within this framework we consider the food parcel support project we have implemented within the scope of our cooperation with TÜRES to be extremely valuable, and we hope that it will expand and spread further by setting an example for other NGOs.”
We call on the suppliers of the food and beverage sector and other NGOs to give support
TÜRES President Ramazan Bingöl, for his part, said in his statement; The food and beverage sector was without doubt the most negatively affected by the pandemic process. For this reason, the sector must be supported so that it can stay on its feet. In the sector, both employers and employees have been unable to earn a proper income for almost a year. Through the cooperation we have carried out with MÜSİAD in this direction, we will at least ensure that the employees are supported with food parcels. Of course this support will not remove the difficulties of the sector, which is in a hard situation, but it will at least soothe a wound. From here I once again declare that we call on the companies working with our sector on supply and on other NGOs to support our sector. We must keep the food and beverage sector on its feet with support. If we cannot reduce the damage of this process to a minimum, this will also be reflected in the country's economy. Bearing these facts in mind, I thank MÜSİAD and our President Mr. Abdurrahman Kaan for the food parcels to be distributed and for the cooperation they have carried out.” he stated.
