Müge Öz, President of the Women’s Committee of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD), released a written statement on the occasion of 8 March International Working Women’s Day
Öz noted the following in her statement:
Woman, who has assumed an important role in the building of all civilizations throughout the history of humanity, is the backbone of society. The sacred place of woman in Anatolia is today being strengthened by the rights attained in modern society.
As women who are active in business life, we closely observe the difficulties our women encounter in working life and the obstacles they come up against within the functioning of society. By taking part in the real solution proposals being produced for all these difficulties, we work together to strengthen our country’s place in the future. Because we know that no solution from which women are excluded at the idea and implementation stage can reach a result.
As women and men, we must act with a common strength and contribute in unity and integrity to our country always moving forward.
In order to put an end to the violence to which women are subjected today in business life, social life and family life, we as women must also take part in the practices of our state and strive to become a part of the solution.
We support the steps taken with the determined stance of the political will on this matter, and we believe that every segment of society should shoulder its share of the responsibility in this process.
With the awareness of the great responsibility that falls upon us, we strive not only to advance our own businesses in working life, but also to always carry forward the place of woman in the society in which we live.
In our country, women make considerable efforts with great sacrifice in order to take part in working life, both in rural areas and in the cities. While we defend the rights of our women who are actively present in working life, all the rights, social security first and foremost, of our women who contribute to the family budget by working in agriculture or at home and who for various reasons are not included in working life must also be secured.
On the other hand, the coming together and the continuity of the institution of the family, which is the fundamental building block of society, are made possible by the valuable efforts of women. Therefore, while consolidating the place of woman in society and in working and social life, work aimed at strengthening family ties, which are liable to be shaken in our day, must also be carried out.
With the hope that today will create awareness on the path to the acquisition of all these gains, we congratulate all our women on 8 March International Women’s Day.
