MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan released a written statement on the occasion of the third anniversary of the July 15 Coup Attempt
In his statement, Kaan noted the following:
Three years have passed since the July 15 Treacherous Coup Attempt, which went down as a black stain in the history of the Republic of Türkiye and in which the Turkish Nation gave the whole world a lesson in democracy.
In this three-year period, while the members of FETÖ who had insidiously infiltrated the Turkish Armed Forces and the various levels of the state have been purged with great meticulousness, our state's struggle still continues with determination.
On the night of July 15, our nation, without hiding behind any excuse and without distinction of young or old, woman or man, stood up against the coup plotters and defended its homeland at the cost of its life, and did not allow the members of FETÖ to attain their treacherous aims.
The struggle our Beloved Nation waged by putting its life on the line on the night of July 15, when the heinous attacks took place, is an exemplary struggle for democracy that the whole world should embrace.
While the Turkish Nation, which already possesses a strong tradition of democracy, gave an important lesson in democracy, July 15 also became the first step of a fundamental change of mentality.
In this process, we once again grasped the importance of standing united and strong against the attacks that may be directed at our country from within and from outside, and setting aside all differences of opinion, we locked together in the common consciousness of defending the homeland.
MÜSİAD's Place Is Always Alongside Its State and Its Nation
MÜSİAD, the most widespread and effective NGO in the world, has always and under all circumstances sided with the national will and has stood against every attempt that would harm it.
MÜSİAD, which also clearly demonstrated its stance after the July 15 Coup Attempt, announced without losing any time that it stood by the nation and the state, and set out to explain our nation's struggle for democracy to the whole world.
As MÜSİAD, throughout this three-year period, in every country we went to and at many points of our homeland, we took an active part in this struggle by stating that democracy is essential not for a particular group but for every segment of society.
We have not allowed, and will not allow, our country, which we founded with the blood of our martyrs, which we brought to these days with many hardships and sacrifices and which walks towards the future with the goal of a Strong Türkiye, to be shaken by any external intervention, above all by terrorist organizations.
On this occasion, on the third anniversary of July 15, I pray for God's mercy upon our July 15 martyrs, who will be remembered with gratitude as long as the Republic of Türkiye lives, and I once again offer my thanks to our veterans.”
