Yunus Furkan Akbal was re-elected as President of the Young Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (Young MÜSİAD).

The 14th Ordinary General Assembly of Young MÜSİAD was held at the MÜSİAD Head Office with the participation of Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, MÜSİAD Founding President Erol Yarar and former MÜSİAD President Ömer Bolat.

Speaking at the meeting, MÜSİAD President Asmalı wished success to the friends who will take on new duties at the congress and said: "Now we have 2 years ahead of us in which we will work shoulder to shoulder. I have full confidence that in these 2 years we will do very fine work together as Young MÜSİAD, and even that you young people will push us to act with greater determination."

Stating that the lands of Anatolia have been kneaded with the blood of martyrs for a thousand years, Asmalı noted the following:

"Because a homeland, when it is kneaded with the blood of martyrs, ceases to be mere soil and becomes a homeland. That is how we made these lands a homeland, and throughout history we have protected our homeland with an uninterrupted struggle. Just as on July 15, we continue to protect it all together with our nation, as a whole. Throughout the history of our Republic, the attacks directed at our homeland, and therefore the struggle we have waged, have never diminished. Even though we have been the owners of these lands for a thousand years, we were always reminded that we would not be left in peace. When we look back at this entire thousand-year process, a very important matter that we as MÜSİAD have noticed emerges; whenever we were economically strong, we were honoured in every field."

Pointing to the importance of economic power, Asmalı said: "In no period in which we were not economically strong were we strong in other fields either."

Emphasizing the importance of ethics in trade and economics, Asmalı said that they would continue to run tirelessly in the new administrative term.

Asmalı said: 'We truly trust you. As the first step of this, for the first time this term we took 2 of our friends directly from the Young MÜSİAD management into the MÜSİAD management. Again among the other firsts; we chose the President of the Qard al-Hasan Fund and the MÜSİAD Women President from among our brothers and sisters who graduated from the Young MÜSİAD school. 20 percent of our board of directors is under the age of 35. Most importantly, by amending the bylaws, this term our Young MÜSİAD will work directly under the president.'

"With new goals, new projects and a renewed team we will set sail towards new targets"

Young MÜSİAD President Yunus Furkan Akbal, for his part, said: "Today we are celebrating a festival day at Young MÜSİAD. First of all, I would like to offer my thanks for the trust you have placed in me. In order to be worthy of your trust, we will work with all our might today, just as we did yesterday."

Conveying that Young MÜSİAD has carried out important work at home and abroad with its motto of transformation and action, Akbal described the work in question.

Akbal said: "With new goals, new projects, new motivation, a renewed team and new enthusiasm, we will set sail towards new targets."

Stating that in the new term, as in the previous terms, they will not compromise on their values, Akbal said: "We will not consume the capital we accumulated in the term we have left behind and behave like squanderers of an inheritance. With the consciousness of a merchant who turns his wealth into capital, we will accomplish far more successful work. We will focus on new and innovative production, finance, competition and business models."
