The written statement made by the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) included the following remarks: "The Turkish economy, which grew by 11.7 percent in the first 3 quarters of the year, whose exports over the last 12 months exceeded USD 220 billion and which has posted a current account surplus for the last 3 months, cannot be assessed by reducing it solely to the exchange rate".
MÜSİAD made statements regarding the latest economic developments on the agenda.
The statement included the following assessment: "As is known, modern economies need social capital at least as much as material capital. The main source of social capital is the factor of trust. We regret to see that, in the recent period, an artificial environment of mistrust that is not based on macroeconomic fundamentals is being created."
The statement, which noted that as MÜSİAD they are against any kind of economic climate steered by perceptions rather than by real economic indicators, conveyed the following:
"Indeed, the Turkish economy, which grew by 11.7 percent in the first 3 quarters of the year, whose exports over the last 12 months exceeded USD 220 billion and which has posted a current account surplus for the last 3 months, cannot be assessed by reducing it solely to the exchange rate. The Turkish economy stands upright today, as it did in the past, against all perception manipulations of both domestic and foreign origin. We have full confidence that our economy, which for the last 20 years has achieved an average annual growth of 5.3 percent without compromising free market conditions, will overcome this process as well. In this context, we reiterate that we are supporters of our low-interest-focused policy, put into practice under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which we believe will multiply many times over our gains focused on production, investment, exports and employment."
