Ali Gökhan Er, Chairman of the Workforce Planning and Vocational Education Committee of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD), made a written statement regarding the importance of vocational high schools, the advantages offered by choosing vocational high schools and the activities MÜSİAD will carry out in the field of education in the coming period.
In his statement, Gökhan Er noted the following:
Vocational and technical education is of vital importance for increasing the qualified workforce, increasing the number of qualified personnel serving in industrial establishments and meeting the need for intermediate staff.
MÜSİAD, which has attached great importance to vocational and technical education activities since the day it was founded, has developed many projects to bring Vocational High Schools and sector representatives together and has carried out important work within this scope.
MÜSİAD, which has made an important breakthrough on the “Thematic High School”, one of the most important steps of vocational education, has within a short time held the opening of the MÜSİAD Marketing and Retail Vocational High School and of the MÜSİAD Furniture and Design Department of Kartal Atalar Vocational Technical Anatolian High School.
Together with the changing and transforming Türkiye, MÜSİAD has also entered a process of renewal, and with the MÜSİAD Workforce Planning and Vocational Education Committee established within the institution, a separate parenthesis has been opened for vocational education.
The Goals of the Committee:
- To bring the sought-after qualified personnel together with the sector,
- To ensure that Vocational High Schools remain in constant contact with the sector,
- To support the Ministry of National Education in preparing up-to-date curricula by being part of the system while curriculum programs are being prepared,
- To increase the effectiveness of the Revolving Fund Enterprise (DÖSE) activities in Vocational High Schools through the “Producing Schools” project,
- To contribute to the professional and personal development of teachers,
- To contribute to the academic and vocational development of students by enabling them to receive training/seminars at different enterprises.
The Advantages of Choosing a Vocational High School
In order for our students graduating from secondary school to build a good future, they need to lay solid foundations right now. In this regard, choosing Vocational High Schools has a very important place.
Today there is a prejudice against vocational high schools, especially among parents. In order for Vocational High Schools to attain the value they deserve, it is first of all essential that this prejudice be broken.
In Vocational High Schools, two separate programs are carried out: the Anatolian Vocational Program and the Anatolian Technical Program. While Anatolian Vocational Programs are established to meet the need for intermediate staff required by the sector, the Anatolian Technical Program provides for students to be trained for higher education as well as for vocational education.
Vocational high schools offer students many advantages. Students’ insurance is started early within the scope of social security while they are still continuing their education.
While Vocational High School students take their first step into their professional lives with the courses they take at school, they can learn their professions in workplaces thanks to the internship opportunities provided by the schools. In addition, they can also make an important contribution to the family economy.
Public Institutions and Organizations give priority to vocational high school graduates in personnel recruitment.
Students who specialize in a profession during their education years can find work more quickly and more easily than students studying at ordinary high schools when they graduate. In addition, when students graduate from vocational high school, they obtain a Workplace Opening Certificate in addition to their diploma.
Vocational High Schools will play an important role in our students’ planning of both their business life and their academic career. In this context, we think that it will be much more beneficial for our students who are currently making their high school choices to choose Vocational High Schools, and we advise them to make their choices in favour of these schools.
