A consultation meeting was held last Saturday at Cemile Sultan Korusu by the Energy and Mining Sector Board of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD), with the participation of Energy and Mining Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez.
A consultation meeting was held last Saturday at Cemile Sultan Korusu by the MÜSİAD Energy and Mining Sector Board.
Energy and Mining Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez, MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan and members of the Board of Directors attended the event.
Speaking at the program, Fatih Dönmez stated that industrialists have a critical role in the transformation of the National Energy and Mining Policy.
Stating that Türkiye's mining foreign trade excluding gold imports is almost in balance, Dönmez assessed: "However, major responsibilities fall to the mining sector in order to reduce gold imports and increase domestic production. Our support for our industrialists will continue as in the past. Elektrik Üretim AŞ has production that will meet only 20 percent of the electricity demand of the entire market. We are in favour of using this production to support consumers who need to be protected."
Dönmez also stated that monthly netting would begin for solar energy projects to be installed on roofs and façades, and noted the following:
"Everyone will be able to install a solar power plant on their roof or façade according to their connection capacity. In addition, in the supports for electricity generation from renewable energy sources, projects that will begin to generate profit by paying off their cost within 10 years will now sell electricity at market prices. For projects that cannot pay it off within 10 years and that are considered to offer multiple benefits from being supported, purchase guarantees may continue."
Emphasis on Renewable Energy
President Abdurrahman Kaan, for his part, stated in his speech that the number one factor in Türkiye's foreign trade deficit stems from energy, and that increasing the amount of investment made in renewable energy sources is essential in order to reduce external dependency in the coming period. Noting that as MÜSİAD they have prepared many projects on renewable energy, Kaan emphasized that they will continue these efforts intensively in the period ahead.
