The MÜSİAD 2022 Economy Report titled “Rethinking the Global Economy”, prepared with the contributions of the MÜSİAD Strategic Research Commission and the Economic Research Unit, was introduced to the press at the MÜSİAD Head Office on Thursday, 1 December 2022.
At the launch held with the participation of MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, Vice President Gökhan Yetkin, Strategic Research Commission Chairman Bekir Sami Nalbantoğlu, Prof. Dr. Servet Bayındır, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Güran Yumuşak, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saraç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Dinç, concrete findings and proposals concerning the road map that will accelerate the process of Türkiye taking its place among the world's top 10 economies were discussed.
MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, who began his remarks by also extending his thanks to Prof. Dr. Servet Bayındır, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saraç, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Güran Yumuşak and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Dinç, who contributed to the preparation of the Report, said: “We aim for Türkiye to stand out by a clear margin at every stage, from production to exports and from innovation to sustainability, with its vision of domestic and national products and services. The ‘MÜSİAD 2022 Economy Report’ titled ‘Rethinking the Global Economy’ contains the concrete steps, strategies and future vision determined by MÜSİAD in order to achieve this aim.”
The headings of the 16 concrete proposals announced by President Asmalı within the scope of the Report, stating that they would accelerate Türkiye's taking its place among the world's top 10 economies within the framework of a changing and transforming global economy, were listed as follows:
1) A Sector-Based Strategic Plan Timetable Should Be Established
2) A Systematic Road Map with Defined Priorities Should Be Designed
3) An Economy Science Board Should Be Established
4) In Finance, a Host Position Should Be Reached, Not That of a Market
5) A Programme to Combat Interest
6) An Interest-Free Finance Law
7) Review of Other Laws and Regulations As Well
8) Ensuring the Integration of Zakat Collection and Distribution Operations into the Financial System
9) Evaluating the Opportunities Brought to the Fore by DeFi Applications and Neobanks within the Scope of Finance and Participation Banking
10) Diversification of Islamic Financial Solutions
11) Expanding the Financing Opportunities of SMEs
12) Selective Credit Policies Should Be Implemented on a Sector, Company And Project Basis
13) Macroprudential Measures for Commercial Loans That Will Increase Exports Should Be Increased
14) The Level of Wages Should Be Addressed in the Context of Its Share of the Income Produced
15) A Legal Infrastructure for Value-Added Labour Should Be Provided
16) The Possible Disinflationary Effect Relating to the Coming Period Should Be Turned into an Opportunity with the Right Policies
MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı concluded his remarks with the wish that the proposals presented by the MÜSİAD 2022 Economy Report to the business world, to policy makers and to all economic units within the framework of common interests would shape the future of the Turkish economy.
