The MÜSİAD Board of Directors Meeting was held last night over an online platform with the participation of AK Party Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtuluş. At the meeting, organized on the occasion of MÜSİAD's 30th Anniversary of Foundation, issues concerning the national and global agenda were addressed.
The Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) Board of Directors Meeting was held last night over an online platform with the participation of AK Party Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtuluş. At the meeting, organized on the occasion of MÜSİAD's 30th Anniversary of Foundation, issues concerning the national and global agenda were addressed.
Taking the floor first at the meeting, MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan gave detailed information on the work MÜSİAD has carried out during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) process.
We Have Been Playing an Active Role Since the Beginning of the Process
Emphasizing that MÜSİAD mobilized its entire organizational network at home and abroad as of 11 March, the date on which the first case was seen in Türkiye, Kaan noted that important work has been undertaken since the beginning of the process, particularly in line with the data received from the grassroots. Kaan said: ” As MÜSİAD, we established the Corona Crisis Management Centre as of the first date on which the case was seen. Here we identified the requests and complaints coming from our members at home and abroad and put forward an emergency action plan. We continue to share the data we obtain here with decision-making authorities and with our relevant ministries in a constant flow. In addition to this, we carried out work within the scope of the Economic Stability Shield Package put forward under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We also supported the National Solidarity Campaign conducted under the leadership of our President. In addition, acting jointly with our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Turkish Airlines through our organizations abroad, we helped our citizens outside the country to return to the homeland.”
We Continue Our Work So That Production Is Not Disrupted
Giving information on the reports prepared by MÜSİAD, Kaan said: “In the field of the economy as well, we continue to prepare interim reports under the heading of the sectoral effects of the Corona crisis. In this context, we published our first report a few days ago under the heading “General Situation, Measures Taken During the Crisis Process, Sectoral Situation and Measures That Can Be Taken for Normalization”. We also prepared a comprehensive report for the tourism sector in cooperation with the International Halal Tourism Association (İHATO). In addition to this, in order to eliminate the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak, to prevent the production and trade system from being disrupted in the face of possible new outbreaks and disasters, to strengthen supply and investment lines and to establish a sustainable system, we launched the “MÜSİAD Production and Investment Bases” project. As MÜSİAD, while striving to get through the outbreak with the least damage, we also continue our work shoulder to shoulder with our state so that production is not disrupted.”
I Hope MÜSİAD Continues on Its Path Successfully
Making assessments after President Kaan, AK Party Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş congratulated MÜSİAD on its 30th Anniversary of Foundation. Thanking everyone who has contributed to the process from the beginning until today, Kurtulmuş used the following words: “ As someone who attended MÜSİAD's first meetings, I was deeply moved when I heard of the 30th year. I recalled the first meetings we held with the participation of Erbakan Hoca and Sabahattin Zaim Hoca. Since then MÜSİAD has developed and grown a great deal. It advanced to these points by growing out of that small centre in Mecidiyeköy. It has become an institution with an extraordinary organizational capability, with its own premises, able to provide services at 314 different locations at home and abroad. From now on as well, I hope that MÜSİAD will continue on its path successfully not as a Türkiye brand but as a world brand, and even beyond that as a group of sincere people with the perspective of reviving our civilization.”
Pointing out that, in terms of its economic and social effects, the Coronavirus outbreak is one of the greatest events of the last three centuries, Kurtulmuş stated that Türkiye has managed the first stage of the process with great success and that process management will be continued far more meticulously in the period ahead. Pointing out that they are conducting the process under three main headings, namely health, economic and social, Kurtulmuş emphasized that they have never seen the outbreak as a political issue, that they have acted with the awareness of a national mobilization and that they have eliminated the effects of the outbreak through the solidarity of 83 million people.
