The delegation of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) held a series of critical contacts in Damascus, the capital of Syria. The delegation, which visited Ambassador Burhan Köroğlu, appointed as Türkiye's Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus, at his office, held important talks on the development of the economic and commercial relations between the two countries.

During the visit, attention was drawn to the fact that the strengthening of Türkiye's diplomatic presence in Syria will also create new opportunities in the fields of business and trade. While the MÜSİAD delegation emphasized that ensuring stability in the region plays a key role in the revival of trade, it underlined that the commercial ties between the two countries should be deepened.

HISTORIC VISIT TO THE SYRIAN MINISTER OF ECONOMY, REVENUE AND TRADE

Within the scope of its contacts in Damascus, the delegation also came together with Syrian Minister of Economy, Revenue and Trade Eng. Basil Abdülaziz and the ministry delegation. This meeting carried historic importance in that the MÜSİAD delegation was the first commercial delegation to visit Minister Abdülaziz.

Expressing his satisfaction with the visit of the MÜSİAD delegation, Minister Abdülaziz stated that the trade volume between Türkiye and Syria should be increased and new fields of cooperation should be developed. In the meeting it was expressed that the two countries coming together in joint projects would contribute both to regional development and to the welfare of the peoples.

THE MÜSİAD DELEGATION IN DAMASCUS WITH ITS STRONG TEAM

MÜSİAD Founding President and IBF Chairman Erol Yarar, MÜSİAD Vice President Davut Altunbaş, IBF Vice Chairman Gazi Mısırlı and Chairman of the Export Development Commission Abdullah Bozatlı carried out a series of visits. The delegation took concrete steps towards strengthening commercial relations and increasing the role of the Turkish business world in Syria's reconstruction process.

In the talks, it was emphasized that cooperation could be carried out particularly in the construction, industry, agriculture and energy sectors, and mutual investment opportunities were evaluated. While the Syrian side expressed its satisfaction with the interest of the Turkish business world in the country, it stated that MÜSİAD's commercial activities in the region would make important contributions to the revival of the Syrian economy.

FORWARD-LOOKING COOPERATION STEPS

Following the talks, the MÜSİAD delegation announced that technical studies would be carried out to evaluate the trade and investment opportunities in Syria and that projects would be developed on a sectoral basis. The delegation expressed that it believes the strengthening of the relations between the two countries will produce positive results not only commercially but also culturally and socially.
