On Tuesday 10 September, within the scope of its Ankara visits, the MÜSİAD Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Board paid visits to the Halal Accreditation Agency, the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and the Health and Food Policies Board of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye as a MÜSİAD delegation composed of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Board Chairman Cemal Özen, Deputy Chairman Emrullah Gökhan, Board member Sait Uluçay and Coordinator Mehmet Pamuk.
The first of the visits, in which assessments were made by consulting on areas of cooperation regarding the agenda and development of the sector, was to the Halal Accreditation Agency.
The agency was established with the aim of bringing trust and standards by uniting under a single roof and at a single point the halal certification activity that shows whether the products and services offered to the consumer are implemented in the light of Islamic rules.
The interest and demand of the approximately 1.8 billion Muslim population living in the world regarding the certification of halal products and services is steadily increasing. Today the concept of halal is not limited to food products alone; it addresses a very broad sectoral spectrum such as finance, textiles, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, logistics and tourism.
In this vein, as the MÜSİAD Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Board;
- The inclusion of MÜSİAD companies in this growing, developing and expanding market as well, owing to the trade volume of the halal industry that grows with each passing day
- Creating social consciousness and awareness of the positive and negative effects of halal and clean food on the morals and behaviour of individuals and generations
Mutual consultations were held regarding the areas of cooperation that could be pursued on these matters.
The Presidency's Digital Transformation Office was then visited, and
-The transition in agriculture from traditional methods to technology, digitalization, software and smart farming applications
-The average age of farmers is 59. Accordingly, proposals were voiced on applications that will direct and encourage young people towards agriculture and farming.
Finally, participation was provided in the meeting of the Presidency's Health and Food Policies Board, and
15 project proposals related to agriculture and food and a presentation and file on structural problems and solution proposals prepared with 100 questions in the agriculture sector were submitted to the board.
The visits concluded with the presentation of Orphan Sponsorship Certificates issued in the names of Halal Accreditation Agency President Zafer Soylu, Deputy Head of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Yusuf TANCAN and Deputy Chairman of the Health and Food Policies Board of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Serkan TOPALOĞLU.
