MÜSİAD and TÜRES will support the employees of the food and beverage sector, which is going through a difficult period because of the pandemic, with food parcels.
A cooperation protocol on food parcel aid to food and beverage sector employees was signed between the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) and the All Restaurants and Tourism Professionals Association (TÜRES). Within the framework of this protocol, the number of food parcels to be determined by MÜSİAD will be distributed to the sector employees in need identified by TÜRES.
The protocol ceremony was held with the participation of MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan and TÜRES President Ramazan Bingöl.
We must make use of every opportunity to reach those in need
Speaking at the signing ceremony, MÜSİAD President Abdurrahman Kaan stated that, as in many sectors, the companies and employees operating in the food and beverage sector are also going through a difficult period because of the pandemic. Kaan continued his remarks as follows: “We aim to reach as many people in need as possible by expanding, as far as we can, the food parcel aid project we launched in order to meet at least part of the needs of our brothers and sisters who work in the food and beverage sector and who are struggling with financial difficulties because their workplaces are closed. Until we get through this difficult period, we believe that every opportunity must be seized so that those who have the means help our citizens who are in hardship. Since we have seen that the many campaigns we have carried out from the very beginning of this process have given our people in difficulty at least a little breathing space, we will continue to carry out similar aid through our members and friends. We believe that we can get through this period only by being united and acting together. In this framework, we consider the food parcel support project we have implemented within the scope of our cooperation with TÜRES extremely valuable, and we hope that it will expand and spread further by setting an example for other NGOs.”
We call on food and beverage sector suppliers and other NGOs to provide support
TÜRES President Ramazan Bingöl, for his part, said in his statement: Without doubt, the food and beverage sector was the most adversely affected by the pandemic process. Therefore, the sector needs to be supported so that it can stay on its feet. In the sector, both employers and employees have earned almost no proper income for nearly 1 year. With the cooperation we have carried out with MÜSİAD in this direction, we will at least ensure that employees are supported with food parcels. Of course, this support will not eliminate the difficulties of the sector, which is in a hard situation, but it will at least be a balm for a wound. From here, I once again declare that we call on the companies working with our sector on supply and on other NGOs to support our sector. We must keep the food and beverage sector on its feet with support. If we cannot minimize the damage of this process, this situation will also be reflected in the country's economy. Bearing these realities in mind, I thank MÜSİAD and our President Mr. Abdurrahman Kaan for the food parcels that will be distributed and for the cooperation they have shown.” he stated.
