With the 1+1 year cooperation protocol signed between the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, marriage and child allowances will be provided to employees with the aim of protecting the institution of the family, encouraging marriage and supporting the population growth rate. This project, named the Family-Friendly Workplace Project, will be implemented through a private sector and public partnership. While it was stated that 1,025 MÜSİAD member companies have joined the project, it was expressed that it is a project that will directly affect more than 300,000 employees.

Within the scope of the 2025 “Year of the Family” declared by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, the “Family-Friendly Workplace Project Cooperation Protocol” was signed between MÜSİAD and the Ministry of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye. According to the protocol, MÜSİAD member employers will provide financial support in the amount of 3 net minimum wages to their employees who get married, and 2 net minimum wages to their employees who have a child.

These supports will be exempt from income tax and social security (SGK) premiums pursuant to Article 25/5 of Income Tax Law No. 193 and subparagraph 80/b of Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510. Therefore, these contributions offered by employers to their employees will not be subject to any tax or premium deduction.

MÜSİAD President Burhan Özdemir: “Investment in the family is the most profitable investment in the future”

In his speech, MÜSİAD President Burhan Özdemir emphasized that the institution of the family is the foundation of society:

“A strong family is the foundation of a strong society; and a strong society is the insurance of a strong state. The essential duty of the business world is not only to generate profit; it is at the same time to invest in the peace and the future of society. Investment in the family is the most profitable investment. Come, let us make our workplaces family-friendly, let us not leave this protocol limited to a signature; let us turn it into a social mobilization that spreads to every area of life.”

Özdemir continued his speech as follows:

“Sometimes you see in the eyes of a colleague the anxiety of ‘My wife is going to give birth, I wonder if I can make it in time?’ Or you feel the worry of a young person about to get married: ‘How can I establish my home?’ The signature placed here today will turn that anxiety in those eyes into joy and that worry in those hearts into peace. The peace rising from the hearth of a home is the light reflected on the future of a nation.”

President Özdemir stated that the 1,025 companies participating in the project will provide financial support in the amount of 3 net minimum wages to their employees who get married and 2 net minimum wages to their employees who have a child. He also expressed that, thanks to this practice, a contribution of approximately TRY 1 billion to employees is expected within 1 year.

“This protocol is one of the strongest field applications of the ‘Year of the Family’ vision declared by our President. The fact that our 1,025 companies, which have provided employment to more than 300,000 people in a short time, became parties to this protocol shows how much we as the MÜSİAD community value the family. By providing 3 minimum wages of support to an employee about to get married and 2 minimum wages to one who has a new child, these companies demonstrate that they protect the family not only in words but also in deed. This is the strongest indication that the business world lends its shoulder to social peace as well as to production.”

Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş: “A family-friendly ecosystem is the guarantee of a strong Türkiye”

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş recalled that at the basis of the 2025 “Year of the Family” declared by the President lies the belief that the family is an irreplaceable institution, and noted the following:

“First of all, we must guarantee that a balance is established between the working life, education, health and social life of family members. A family-friendly ecosystem is a holistic system that supports social welfare, demographic stability and intergenerational ties. This system is strengthened through public-private sector cooperation.”

Minister Göktaş recalled the scope of the incentives and supports for families and spoke as follows:

“With the supports we offer to our young people who are getting married and to families who will have children, we are making the institution of the family more resilient. This protocol that we signed today will pioneer the spread of the family-friendly ecosystem in the business world. We hope that this exemplary model implemented with MÜSİAD will spread to the entire business world.”

The Family-Friendly Workplace Project, implemented by MÜSİAD and the Ministry of Family, aims to strengthen the institution of the family, to encourage marriage and to contribute to the population growth rate. As of today, 1,025 companies have joined the project and more than 300,000 employees have been directly affected. The project has found a genuine response not only in metropolitan cities but in every corner of Anatolia, and has become an indication of strong social ownership.
