Müge Öz, Chairwoman of the MÜSİAD Women's Committee, issued a written statement on the occasion of 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Öz's statement is as follows:

Despite the sensitivity that has developed in national and international public opinion in recent years and the gains that have been achieved, violence against women remains one of the greatest social wounds of our time across the world.

Regardless of education or income level, the violence that women from every segment of society face in every area of social life does not only cause individual devastation for the woman subjected to it; it also produces economic, psychological and social consequences that emerge as an interwoven whole. Reducing the struggle against violence towards women to the woman who is exposed to it, or even to women alone, therefore means leaving women on their own and disregarding the problems that emerge over the long term. Resolving these problems before they fester is essential in order to secure lasting, sustainable peace and social equality within society. Combating violence against women is not the problem of any one of us but of all of us, and solving it is the responsibility of us all.

With these sentiments and hopes, we wish that 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, may raise awareness towards building happy individuals, harmonious families and a prosperous society.

As MÜSİAD Women, we wish to state that we are always ready to work towards ending violence against women.
