Current topics such as production costs, raw material inputs and sustainable export strategies were assessed with the participation of sector professionals and academics
The Food Assembly program organized by the MÜSİAD Agriculture, Food and Livestock Sector Board began with the greeting and opening speech of Emrullah Gökhan. Introducing MÜSİAD and the activities of the sector board, Gökhan emphasized how their fundamental goals could carry our country forward and drew attention to the importance of developing sustainable policies.
Within the scope of the program, current topics concerning the food sector were addressed. The participants shared their views on production costs and the pressure factors on the sector, the effects of raw material and other input costs, and also new market targets and strategies for a sustainable increase in exports. In the assessments, emphasis was placed on the steps that need to be taken in order to manage the cost pressures the sector faces, to increase productivity and to strengthen exports.
The program was attended by FAO Türkiye Communication Coordinator Mehmet Ali İzmir, GİFT Chairman Dr. Samet Serttaş, Starch and Glucose Producers Association Chairman İsmail Başaran (NİSAD), the representative of the Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association Kazım Taycı, OECD BIAC Food and Agriculture Committee Chairman Metin Akman, TOBB Food Assembly Chairman Necdet Buzbaşı and academics Prof. Dr. Hami Alpas, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Gülseren and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Pala. In addition, GİFT Board of Directors members Süleyman Kara and Alperen Köseoğlu and GİFT Secretary General İrem Yakışıklı also took part in the meeting.
In the final part of the program, assessments were made and solution proposals were discussed on the question “what should we do?” within the framework of the topics addressed and the problems faced by the sector. The program ended with a group photograph of the participants.
