MÜSİAD EXTENDED PRESIDENTS MEETING HELD WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF MINISTER OF TREASURY AND FINANCE BERAT ALBAYRAK

The second part of the “Extended Presidents Meeting”, which MÜSİAD holds regularly every year, was organized at the Head Office with the participation of Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, President Abdurrahman Kaan, MÜSİAD Board of Directors Members and MÜSİAD's Domestic and International Branch Presidents

The second part of the “Extended Presidents Meeting”, which MÜSİAD holds regularly every year, was organized at the Head Office with the participation of Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, President Abdurrahman Kaan, MÜSİAD Board of Directors Members and MÜSİAD's Domestic and International Branch Presidents.

President Abdurrahman Kaan, who delivered the opening speech of the programme that was held closed to the press, gave a brief presentation on Türkiye's economic performance over the past 18 years.

Kaan, who also shared his assessments on the New Economy Program (NEP) announced during the year, pointed out that Türkiye is advancing with confident steps in line with its targeted figures. Stating that they are hopeful about 2020, Kaan continued his remarks as follows:

"We are entering a period in which banks will accelerate their lending activities with the marked decline in interest rates. However, our alternative financing options such as venture capital funds, partnership funds and a project exchange, which are an alternative to doing business with interest, our red line, will also become operational in 2020. What matters here is to nurture the element of confidence in the Turkish lira and to invest in our national capital stock. In a country, the value of money is determined by the volume and added value of production in that country. We estimate that we will also see a marked decrease in the number of composition-with-creditors cases with the introduction of the new practices in financial restructuring. Likewise, the return of the business world's appetite for investment will also have a positive effect on employment." he said.

Türkiye Continues Its Stable March

Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, for his part, pointed out that Türkiye has effectively been at war for 7 years, since the period that began with the Gezi Process in 2013. Emphasizing that our country was sought to be cornered through the Gezi Uprising, the 17-25 December Economic Coup, the 15 July Coup Attempt and exchange-rate games, Albayrak noted that Türkiye nevertheless continued on its way in a stable manner without compromising its honourable and upright stance.

Pointing out that Türkiye has sustained its growth despite the unstable environment in its region and the developments in the world called “Trade War” , Albayrak stated that Türkiye will continue to sustain its stable growth in the coming period as well.

Following his speech, Albayrak answered the questions of MÜSİAD Branch Presidents. Sharing his assessments on sectors such as automotive, agriculture, energy and banking, Albayrak exchanged views with MÜSİAD Members.
