The MÜSİAD Health Sector Board Expanded Sector Assembly Meeting was held at MÜSİAD Head Office with the participation of Minister of Health of the Republic of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu. In addition to MÜSİAD President Burhan Özdemir, Deputy Ministers of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şuayip Birinci and Asst. Prof. Dr. Halim Özçevik, MÜSİAD Health Sector Board Chairman Dr. İhsan Şahin and TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, critical topics such as localization in health and increasing national production capacity, the expansion of digital health applications, the current problems and future opportunities of the pharmaceutical industry, and sustainability and support for innovative technologies in the medical device sector were addressed. Participants discussed solution proposals aimed at increasing the sector's global competitiveness. The program, which continued with presentations by MÜSİAD Health Sector Board Chairman Dr. İhsan Şahin, TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan and Minister of Health of the Republic of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, addressed the development of the health field in Türkiye.
The program continued with a question-and-answer session moderated by MÜSİAD President Burhan Özdemir. Minister of Health Memişoğlu listened carefully to the questions from members and made detailed assessments. The Minister said, “Carrying the health sector further forward together is the responsibility of all of us.”
In his speech at the meeting, MÜSİAD President Burhan Özdemir stated that the health sector carries strategic value not only for Türkiye but on a global scale, and said:
“The pandemic process showed us that a strong health infrastructure and national production capacity are indispensable for the independence of countries. As MÜSİAD, we will continue to provide every kind of support so that our members operating in the field of health can increase their innovation, technology and production power. The views and solution proposals expressed here today will directly affect not only the future of the sector but also our country's development vision.”
Özdemir also drew attention to the fact that Türkiye is increasingly becoming a rising centre in health tourism worldwide, saying, “Our goal is to carry Türkiye to the position of a regional health base with a strong health infrastructure supported by domestic production.”
