The MÜSİAD Health Sector Board carried out a series of visits to important public institutions with the aim of addressing the current agenda of the health sector and sectoral needs. Within the scope of the visits, Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK) President Ahmet Ayar, TİTCK Vice President Mesil Aksoy and Social Security Institution (SGK) Director General of Universal Health Insurance Eren Usul were visited in their offices.
During the meetings held, comprehensive information was shared about the activities carried out by the MÜSİAD Health Sector Board, and various consultations were held on the current situation and the future of the health sector. The meetings in particular addressed the opportunities and problems that the health sector encounters in the fields of production, exports and services.
While the different components of the sector, above all medicines, medical devices, consumables and private health services, were assessed at the meetings, the problems faced by sector stakeholders and the solution proposals for these problems were comprehensively brought to the agenda. A mutual exchange of views was held on the work that can be done to increase domestic production in the field of health, to strengthen export capacity and to develop health services in a sustainable manner.
As a result of the meetings, while the expectations of the sector regarding medicine pricing policies in particular were expressed, it was stated that concrete assessments had been made in favour of carrying out a revision in medicine prices and that work would be conducted on this matter. It was assessed that the steps to be taken regarding the price regulations, which are an important agenda item for sector representatives, would make an important contribution in terms of the sustainability of the health sector and the strengthening of production capacity.
The MÜSİAD Health Sector Board delegation thanked the relevant institution executives for the constructive consultation environment that will contribute to the development of the sector and for the hospitality they showed, and emphasized the importance of public–private sector cooperation continuing more strongly in the field of health.
