The programme traditionally organized every year at İstanbul Technical University by the MÜSİAD Metal and Mining Sector Board was held this year too in two parts, as the Sectoral Meeting and the traditional iftar programme. Bringing academia, the sector and students together, the programme was completed with intense participation and productive consultations.
The Sectoral Meeting, which constituted the first part of the programme, served as an important platform enabling direct contact between students and sector representatives. Merve Harzadın Nazikoğlu, one of the sector's leading women entrepreneurs and also a graduate of the İstanbul Technical University Faculty of Mines, and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kumral, Dean of the İTÜ Faculty of Mines, took part in the programme.
At the meeting, held in an interactive format, comprehensive assessments were made on sector experience, entrepreneurship, professional development, career planning and the processes of preparing young people for working life. Held with the intense interest of the students, the programme yielded important gains in terms of developing university-sector cooperation.
In the second part of the programme, the İTÜ iftar programme traditionally organized every year by the MÜSİAD Metal and Mining Sector Board was held. İstanbul Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal also took part in the programme, which was held with the participation of approximately 500 people. Bringing students, academics and sector representatives together at the same table, the iftar programme was completed in an atmosphere of unity, togetherness and solidarity.
Held regularly every year, this programme constitutes an important ground for the continuity of the strong bond that the MÜSİAD Metal and Mining Sector Board has established with university youth. With this comprehensive meeting, an important step was taken towards further strengthening relations with university youth. In addition, a strong start was made in line with the goal of holding the second leg of the mining assembly within the faculty together with students and the associations in the vicinity.
It is hoped that the programme implemented by the MÜSİAD Metal and Mining Sector Board will increase interaction between academia, the sector and young people and thereby prepare the ground for stronger collaborations in the future.
