In his speech, in which he also touched on the successes in the field of energy, President Asmalı drew attention to the steps taken under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

"Türkiye is the world's energy belt and road"

MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı stated at the MÜSİAD 106th GİK Opening Program that Türkiye stands out with its strategic and geopolitical position, which has no equal in the region. Pointing out that our country has become the world's energy belt and road thanks to the policies implemented over the past 20 years, President Asmalı continued his remarks as follows:

"With its geopolitical position that has no equal in the world and the new energy policies implemented, Türkiye is on its way to becoming an important energy centre. Around us are the world's richest oil and natural gas countries. At the same time, Türkiye is a natural bridge in delivering these resources to Europe. Türkiye ranks 5th in Europe and 12th in the world in renewable energy-based capacity. Under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and in line with sustainable development goals, our government has focused on reducing the use of conventional energy resources and on spreading renewable and clean energy resources. In line with this vision, our country has written a great success story in energy transformation, in renewable energy and in energy efficiency."

"The old Türkiye is no more, there is a strong Türkiye at the table and in the field"

Referring also to the point reached in foreign policy at the MÜSİAD 106th GİK Opening Program, President Asmalı drew attention to Türkiye being an island of peace and stability under the leadership of President Erdoğan. In his assessment, MÜSİAD President Asmalı touched on the importance of an active foreign policy from the Caucasus to the Balkans and from the Eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia, and said, "The old Türkiye is no more, there is a strong Türkiye at the table and in the field":

"Behind this success in the energy field there is without doubt our successful foreign policy carried out by a strong political leadership. The architect of this foreign policy, which makes Türkiye strong both in the field and at the table, is our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who effectively implements leader diplomacy. The characteristic of our game-breaking and game-building foreign policy is that it is enterprising, humane, national and, most importantly of all, independent. Thanks to this successful foreign policy, Türkiye has been able to remain an island of peace and stability in our geography, which is struggling with conflict, war and terrorism. With this effective foreign policy, deepened by our moves in the defence industry, our international prestige has increased. With our active foreign policy from the Caucasus to the Balkans and from the Eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia, we have become either a partner or a founder of lasting cooperation platforms. With institutions such as TİKA, AFAD and YTB and with civil society organizations such as the Turkish Red Crescent, the Diyanet Foundation and MÜSİAD, the star of this successful foreign policy of ours shines even brighter. As MÜSİAD, we too provide active support with all our units and members to humanitarian diplomacy and especially to commercial diplomacy. The old Türkiye is no more. There is a more prestigious and stronger Türkiye in international organizations such as the UN and NATO. There is a Türkiye that sets up diplomatic tables and is also effective in the field from Karabakh to Libya. The successful foreign policy of Türkiye, the fifth country with the most overseas missions, positively affects every sector from energy to the defence industry, from the economy to agriculture."

MÜSİAD will guide the sector with its energy strategy

In his assessments in Konya, President Asmalı touched on the MÜSİAD Energy Strategy and Climate Manifesto and said that Türkiye can continue its successful journey in the field of energy more effectively with 3 basic principles. In his speech President Asmalı said, "Domestic, efficient and technology-oriented energy production and consumption, the building of Türkiye's energy industry, and the perspective of a Türkiye that is an independent and reliable belt and road in energy will carry our country further forward":

"With the Climate Manifesto we announced at MÜSİAD Visionary '21, we lent our shoulder to green transformation in industry. At the same time, the MÜSİAD Energy Strategy we announced in recent weeks sets out a road map that will carry our country further forward in this field. As MÜSİAD, in addition to the swift implementation of the 3 basic principles, we believe that the share of renewable energy in electricity generation should be raised to 75 percent by 2050 and our share in the world renewable energy pie to 3 percent. We repeat our demand for the creation of an energy industry strategy that will support our domestic and national energy policy. Because giving weight to the development of domestic energy technologies through cooperation between the public sector, universities and industry will be an initiative that takes our country a leap forward in this field.”
