MÜSİAD Logistics Sector Board Chairman Mehmet Metin Korkmaz and the accompanying delegation held the summit program titled “Customs Practices in Türkiye and a New Era in Foreign Trade” in Tekirdağ in cooperation with the MÜSİAD Tekirdağ Branch.
Before the summit program, the delegation visited MÜSİAD Tekirdağ Branch President Abdullah Demir and exchanged views on the economic activities in the region and on cooperation opportunities. Within the scope of the program, a visit was also made to Ceyport Tekirdağ Port and the port's operational capacity was examined on site. During the visit to Tekirdağ Governor Mr. Recep Soytürk, assessments were made regarding the development of regional trade and the strengthening of logistics infrastructure.
The summit began with the opening speeches of Tekirdağ Governor Recep Soytürk, MÜSİAD Logistics Sector Board Chairman Mehmet Metin Korkmaz, Çorlu Chamber of Commerce and Industry President İzzet Volkan and MÜSİAD Tekirdağ Branch President Abdullah Demir. At the opening, the transformation experienced in customs processes, the current developments in foreign trade policies and the strategic role of the logistics sector were emphasized.
The panel session of the program was held under the moderation of MÜSİAD Logistics Sector Board Vice Chairman Zekeriya Savran. Taking part in the panel as speakers were DEİK Logistics Business Council Chairman Fatih Şener, Cey Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Avcı, UND Executive Board Chairman Alper Özel and UTİKAD Board of Directors Vice Chairman Arkın Obdan. The panellists comprehensively addressed the changing balances in global trade, digitalization in customs practices, logistics costs and solution proposals aimed at increasing Türkiye's competitiveness.
The summit, which took place with intense participation, brought together representatives of the public and private sectors and became the scene of assessments regarding the current situation and the future of the sector.
