Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that took the world and our country under its influence in 2020, serious changes are being experienced in our tourism habits. In the tourism sector, which reduces the current account deficit and from which we obtain high income as a country, we could not reach the figures we wanted this year.

Believing that alternative tourism models will provide a solution to the loss of income we are experiencing, the MÜSİAD New Tourism Resources Development Committee is launching the Caravan Park Project.

The basic aim of the work is to bring out healthy models for the travel/rest and holiday needs of domestic and foreign tourists under pandemic conditions, paying attention to parameters such as hygiene, social distance and personal space.

Stating that although caravan tourism is very widespread in the world it has not yet received the desired level of response in our country, Muhammet Ali Özeken, President of the MÜSİAD New Tourism Resources Development Committee, summarized the project as follows:

“With the Caravan Park Project that we created in order to produce alternative markets for the tourism sector, which has contracted under the impact of Covid-19, we aim to spread healthy, nature-friendly caravan tourism in various provinces along different routes. Together with our stakeholders, our members and our branches, we believe that the Caravan Park Project will contribute to the country's tourism and, through the collaborations it will create, will contribute to activities that bring in foreign currency.”

What is the Caravan Tourism Project?

Caravan tourism is not only a tourism activity; it is a business model that also revitalizes many local sub-sectors and will accelerate alternative and regional development. The launch of the Caravan Park Project, which has the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and of local administrations, will take place at the MÜSİAD EXPO fair on 18-21 November.

Within the scope of the fair, it brings together not only alternative tourism potential but also companies specialized in fields that connect caravan tourism with other sectors, such as caravan manufacturing, camping equipment, caravan design and the construction of physical areas for caravan tourism. Thanks to the project, it is aimed to create a new export field with caravan manufacturing, spare parts and design, backed by a strong industrial infrastructure.
