Taking into account that, owing to the extraordinary conditions caused by COVID-19, data controllers have been unable to carry out the work of preparing a personal data processing inventory and that the obligation to register with the Data Controllers' Registry could not be fulfilled on time, the Personal Data Protection Authority has extended the final registration deadlines for VERBİS.
By Decision no. 2020/482 of the Personal Data Protection Board dated 23/06/2020;
-For real and legal person data controllers with more than 50 annual employees or an annual financial balance sheet total of more than TRY 25 million, as well as real and legal person data controllers resident abroad,
the period set for fulfilling the obligation to register with the Registry has been extended to 30.09.2020,
-For real and legal person data controllers with fewer than 50 annual employees and an annual financial balance sheet of less than TRY 25 million whose principal field of activity is the processing of special categories of personal data,
the period set for fulfilling the obligation to register with the Registry has been extended to 31.03.2021,
-it has been decided to extend the period set for public institutions and organizations as data controllers to fulfil their obligation to register with the Registry until 31.03.2021.”
