In August 2022, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index declined by 4.4 points compared with the previous month, falling to a value of 49.6.
The decline of the Services Sector SAMEKS Index by 5.3 points compared with the previous month to a level of 49.6 played the determining role in this development. The rapid loss of momentum in business volume compared with the previous month was effective in the decrease observed in the services sector.
The Industry Sector SAMEKS Index, which maintained its course above the reference value at 50.6 despite recording a decrease of 1.9 points compared with the previous month, limited the decline in the Composite Index. In this period, although new orders in the industry sector presented a weak outlook, the increase in production continued.
Thus the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index, which had moved above the reference value of 50 throughout the January-July period of 2022, recorded a decrease of 4.4 points compared with July, fell to a level of 49.6 and indicated that economic activity slowed compared with the previous month.
