In December 2022, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index rose by 0.2 points compared with the previous month and, at 53.3 points, continued its course above the reference value.

In this period, the Industry Sector SAMEKS Index, which stood at 52.6 despite falling by 6.3 points compared with the previous month, maintained its positive appearance by remaining above the reference value for the 17th consecutive month. In the same period, the Services Sector SAMEKS Index also rose by 2.7 points compared with the previous month to 53.6 and played a decisive role in the increase in the Composite Index.

In this period, input purchases relating to the services sector maintained their strong course and the business volume sub-index began to rise again after a six-month interval. In the industrial sector, on the other hand, the decrease in new orders compared with the previous month caused a loss of momentum in input purchases and production.

As a result of these developments, SAMEKS, which stood above the reference value of 50 in October and November and pointed to a lively appearance of economic activity in the fourth quarter, continued its rise in December as well and closed 2022 at a positive level. Thus, the SAMEKS Composite Index, which left the last quarter of the year behind with an average of 53.4 points, indicated that the positive growth process in the Turkish economy is continuing.
