In April 2023, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index rose by 4.4 points compared to the previous month to a value of 56.3.

Thus, in SAMEKS, which contracted in February under the impact of the earthquake disaster, the recovery that took place in March was seen to accelerate in April.

In this period, the Industry Sector SAMEKS Index rose by 6.4 points compared to the previous month to the level of 59.0, while the Services Sector SAMEKS Index, which rose by 4.0 points compared to the previous month to the level of 55.1, played a decisive role in the increase observed in the Composite Index.

The marked increase in new orders compared to the previous month was influential in the rise recorded in the industry sector, while in the services sector the maintenance of the high level of input purchases was the leading factor in the acceleration observed in the index. As a result of these developments, the employment sub-index was observed to have recorded an increase across both sectors.

Thus, in this period when the global economy is going through a stagnant and fragile recovery process, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index reached its highest level in the last 11 months at 56.3 points and pointed to a highly positive performance for the real sector.
