In April 2024, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index gained 3.5 points of momentum compared with the previous month, rising to 57.5 and maintaining its course above the reference value.

In this period, the Services Sector SAMEKS Index recorded an increase of 5.5 points compared with the previous month, rising to 58.2. The Industry Sector SAMEKS Index also gained 5.0 points of pace compared with the previous month and stood at 59.7.

Thus the industry sector, which gained momentum in March following the improvement in demand conditions, maintained its positive outlook in April as well and rose to its highest level in the last 11 months. The expansion observed in business volume together with the acceleration of firms' input purchasing activities was also the determinant of the increase recorded in the services sector.

While the increase recorded in employment in both sectors in April indicated that the positive outlook in labour markets will continue in the second quarter of the year as well, the data in question showed that growth signals in the outlook for the real sector are continuing, and it was observed that the vibrancy in economic activity is being maintained despite monetary tightening conditions.
