In March 2023, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index rose by 2.9 points compared with the previous month to a value of 51.5.

In this period, the Services Sector SAMEKS Index, which recorded an increase of 1.5 points compared with the previous month, rose to a level of 50.9, while the Industry Sector SAMEKS Index, which increased by 5.3 points compared with the previous month to a level of 52.6, played a decisive role in the rise observed in the Composite Index. While the rapid acceleration of new orders was effective in the increase observed in the industry sector, in the services sector the high level of input purchases was the leading factor in the recovery in the index.

Thus the SAMEKS Composite Index, which made a strong start to 2023 by leaving January behind at 53.9 points and then declined to a level of 48.7 in February under the impact of the earthquake disaster, began to rise again as of March, thereby presenting a positive outlook for the first quarter of the year with an average of 51.4 points. In March, when new orders and production recorded a rapid increase in the industry sector, a slower recovery was observed in the services sector, where business volume contracted.
