SAMEKS pointed to a decline throughout the third quarter:

In September 2024 the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index declined by 0.2 points compared with the previous month to 46.5 and maintained its course below the reference value.

In this period the Services Sector SAMEKS Index recorded a decline of 1.1 points compared with the previous month and came in at 45.7. The Industry Sector SAMEKS Index also lost 1.0 points of pace compared with the previous month and fell to 44.6.

The continuation of the stagnant course of business volume in September as well remained decisive in the services sector presenting a negative outlook. In the industry sector, input purchases lost momentum with the decline observed in new orders, and accordingly the contraction in production continued in this period as well.

Thus, as a result of the monetary tightening policy and the simplification steps taken within the micro and macroprudential framework, the stagnant course concerning the real sector that began in July and became evident in August continued in September as well, and it was seen that the cooling in economic activity had spread to the whole of the third quarter.
