The Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) emphasized that the Turkish lira has gained serious upward momentum following the new economic measures package announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In this context, MÜSİAD made a call for price cuts to the entire business world, above all to its own members. While MÜSİAD's call found strong support, MÜSİAD members also cut the prices of their products and services.
MÜSİAD, which represents more than 60 thousand enterprises with over 11 thousand members, made a call for price cuts to the business world after the measures announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were positively reflected in the markets and a serious appreciation was recorded in the Turkish lira within a short time. On account of the appreciation in question, MÜSİAD launched the campaign 'Come On Türkiye, Now Is the Time for Price Cuts'. MÜSİAD member organizations supporting the campaign also began to cut prices.
The post shared from MÜSİAD's Twitter account read: "The measures announced by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have been positively reflected in the markets and a serious appreciation has been recorded in the Turkish lira within a short time. Within this framework, we invite the entire business world to cut their prices. As the pressure of the exchange rate on costs eases, we will announce to the public through our social media accounts those MÜSİAD members who put their shoulder to the wheel and revise their prices downwards, thereby demonstrating our determination in the fight against inflation".
MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, whose views were included in the statement, said: 'We are proud that our call has found a rapid response. Our members have begun to support our campaign by cutting prices. I believe that this campaign we have launched will grow like an avalanche and that not only MÜSİAD member institutions and organizations but all companies operating in our country will take part.'
Emphasizing that in line with the latest economic developments they have invited the business world to cut product prices in favour of the purchasing power of the people, Asmalı noted the following:
'It is time to be together, to build stronger tomorrows together. Happily, our call has found a rapid response. Our MÜSİAD member organizations have begun to support our campaign by cutting prices. We will continue our work without slowing down for the prosperity of our nation. From now on as well, we will continue our work in this direction for a producing and strong Türkiye. The Turkish economy stands firm today, as it did in the past, against all perception manipulations of both domestic and foreign origin. We believe that our economy, which has achieved an annual average growth of 5.3 over the last 20 years without compromising free market conditions, will also get through this process.'
After the statement, MÜSİAD member organizations began to support the launched campaign by cutting prices, and the call for price cuts found a response within a very short time. The logos of the members that cut prices were featured on MÜSİAD's official Twitter page.
