MÜSİAD Women came together with the mothers who launched a sit-in protest in front of the HDP Diyarbakır Provincial Headquarters building on the claim that their children had been abducted to the mountains by the terrorist organization PKK. Our members, who travelled to Diyarbakır in order to support the protests that began on 21 August 2019 and have continued to grow with each passing day, shared in the sorrows of the grieving families. Drawing attention to the fact that the terrorist organization PKK deceives the Kurdish youth of the region and takes them to the mountains, our members delivered important messages on behalf of the re-establishment of social unity and the bond of brotherhood.

Making statements on the subject in front of the HDP Diyarbakır Provincial Headquarters, MÜSİAD Women President Müge Öz pointed out that every citizen of ours with a conscience has reacted justly in the face of this situation. Öz said: "The terrorist organization, which tries to cover up the popular support it has steadily lost in recent years by abducting our young people to the mountains and putting weapons in their hands, has no legitimacy whatsoever in the eyes of the people. In the face of this inhuman attitude of the terrorist organization, which fell like fire onto the country's agenda with the outcry of 3 families whose children were abducted, today we are witnessing the joint revolt of 23 families and the just anger of every citizen of ours with a conscience."

Noting that as MÜSİAD Women they will always support the grieving families, Öz said: "As MÜSİAD Women, we too are here today to share the pain of the mothers who say, 'I die every day, I want my child,' and we wish to announce to the public that we will stand by the families to the very end so that our little ones may return to their homes as soon as possible."

Motherhood Has No Politics

Drawing attention to the fact that motherhood is a concept above politics, Öz assessed: "Motherhood is a feeling far too special to remain in the shadow of any political thought, political manoeuvre or ideology. Therefore, the cries for help of our mothers who wait with anxiety and fear to be reunited with their children must find an echo in every segment of society, without discrimination. The exploitation of our young people by the terrorist organization for savage aims must be the common concern not only of their mothers but of the whole of society."
