The report of the Domestic Software and Cyber Power Türkiye Workshop, organized by the MÜSİAD Digital Transformation Sector Board, has been published.

The Domestic Software and Cyber Power Türkiye Workshop was organized by the MÜSİAD Digital Transformation Sector Board in İstanbul on 30 November 2023 with the aim of guiding Türkiye's digital transformation, increasing the production of domestic software, reducing our external dependence in technology, discussing the important steps in the digital transformation process and shaping Türkiye's technological future. The workshop was held with 150 participants from the private sector, public institutions, universities, technoparks, the media and various NGOs. The outputs obtained after the workshop were turned into a report and shared with the public. The report, which carries the steps for Türkiye to implement domestic and national strategies on the path to software, includes the headings Domestic Software Productization Strategies, Public and Private Sector Cooperation, Open Source Code and Standards, Digital Transformation Strategies, Cyber Security Strategies and Action Plans.

In the report, in which each subject is examined under three main headings as Current Situation, Problems and Solutions, both the problems and the solutions to these problems are discussed.

The general assessment of the report is as follows:

"The compilation of an inventory of domestic software products, the development of pre-competitive cooperation opportunities and the presentation of the prepared domestic product inventory to the representative offices abroad were addressed. In all the commissions, the lack of qualified personnel, productization problems and branding problems in foreign markets came to the fore. Standardization problems, uncertainties in regulations and the failure to see the pioneering role expected from the public sector were also identified as problems. Personnel certification, training practices and internship programmes aimed at the need for qualified personnel are among the issues that came to the fore. Participants put forward comprehensive solution proposals covering the private sector. the public sector and universities for the solution of the identified problems. The current situation, problems and solution proposals that emerged as a result of the discussions held will be published comprehensively with the workshop final report, and will be distributed to universities, public institutions, private sector representatives, NGOs and all workshop participants. By establishing mechanisms for following up the workshop results, expectations will be conveyed to the relevant institutions and organizations and the steps taken will be monitored. With panels, events and follow-up workshops aimed at developing the problems and solutions addressed within the framework of the workshop, the carrying out of Türkiye’s digital transformation on a sound footing and the development and widespread use of domestic software and cyber security products will be supported."
