The Türkiye-Indonesia Trade Delegation Business Development Meeting was held under the coordination of the Export Development Commission of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) with the participation of Turkish and Indonesian businesspeople.
The Türkiye-Indonesia Business Development Meeting organized under the leadership of MÜSİAD was attended by 70 businesspeople from Indonesia and 100 from Türkiye, including MÜSİAD Vice President Davut Altunbaş, Export Development Commission Chairman Abdülkadir Sıcakyüz, Women's Commission Chairwoman Meryem İlbahar, Diplomatic Relations Commission Vice Chairman Osman Nuri Önügören, MÜSİAD Indonesia Representative Doddy Cleveland Hidayat Putra, Deputy Consul of the Consulate General of Indonesia in İstanbul Thalita Evani Hindarto, Indonesia President of the Indonesia-Türkiye Brotherhood Association Mutia Octavia and Türkiye President of the Indonesia-Türkiye Brotherhood Association Ali Çetin.
Assessing the event, MÜSİAD Vice President Davut Altunbaş said, "MÜSİAD is an international trade network present at 165 points, 84 at home and in 81 countries abroad. With more than 60,000 companies, it contributes to the world economy by providing close to 2 million jobs at many points of the world. Whichever continent and country you go to today, MÜSİAD branches, representatives and the companies within it are ready to give you every kind of support."
Expressing that Indonesia is one of the most important countries of the Asian region, Altunbaş continued his remarks as follows:
"Indonesia is in the position of a steady and stable country. Indonesia holds important opportunities for Turkish businesspeople. At the business meeting we held here as MÜSİAD, we carried out important B2B meetings so that Indonesia can develop both its exports to and its imports from Türkiye. Considering the demands of the businessmen who came to the Indonesia Business Forum during the pandemic period, we determined once again that the countries from which Indonesia imports need to be examined well."
Announcing at the same time that Free Trade Agreements would be signed between the two countries within the year, Altunbaş expressed that with the agreement they foresee the trade volume between the two countries rising to the level of USD 10 billion by 2023, and said, "We hope to conduct Free Zone trade through the agreements to be made between the 2 countries within 2021."
Expressing that the Türkiye-Indonesia Trade Delegation Business Development Meeting is an extremely important step in terms of developing mutual trade between Türkiye and Indonesia, MÜSİAD Export Development Commission Chairman Abdulkadir Sıcakyüz, for his part, touched upon the importance of the contacts made at the event.
Sıcakyüz made the following statements in his speech:
"As the MÜSİAD Export Development Commission, we held more than 50 B2B meetings. While new partnerships were developed with the Indonesia Business Meeting, a warm atmosphere was created with Indonesia's leading business organizations and MÜSİAD members. MÜSİAD will continue such activities so that its members, who have an important role in Türkiye's production, employment and exports, can open up to new markets and become able to make value-added exports. As the Export Development Commission, it is planned to carry out activities primarily in the areas of reports, training, international business trips, purchasing delegation organizations, commercial diplomacy, relations with international branches/representatives, and access to incentives and supports. In this context, we look forward to the participation of our members in all these activities to be organized by the Head Office, the Branches and the Sector Boards."
MÜSİAD Women's Commission Chairwoman Meryem İlbahar, speaking at the program, also pointed to the work carried out and said, "Through our projects we aim to witness our members developing their trade thanks to MÜSİAD and MÜSİAD Women, and perhaps even to witness their first exports and their first ventures."
İlbahar said the following in her speech:
"It is gratifying to see that most of the businesspeople in the trade delegation representing Indonesia are women. MÜSİAD Women is advancing on the path to becoming Türkiye's most widespread and most comprehensive businesswomen's organization, with the support of MÜSİAD, Türkiye's largest Capital Platform, behind it. In this context, in line with our founding purpose, we attach great importance to the presence of women and women entrepreneurs in business life and indeed in civil society organizations."
Mutia Octavia, President of the Türkiye Indonesia Association, who began her remarks by thanking MÜSİAD for hosting such an organization, said, "We held a fine mutual business meeting between the delegations."
In her speech Octavia made the following statements: "The Turkish economy is developing with each passing day. We as Indonesians are trying to keep pace with this development and are proud to contribute to your country's economy. We believe that in the coming period as well, the coming together of Turkish and Indonesian businesspeople will be beneficial for the development of trade between the two countries. For this reason we must always bring Indonesian businesspeople and MÜSİAD businesspeople together."
Meanwhile, within the scope of the program, Turkish and Indonesian businesspeople held B2B meetings, while participants had the opportunity to share mutual project and work presentations.
