At the Türkiye-Uzbekistan Business Forum held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, increasing the trade volume between the two countries was brought to the agenda, while a consensus was reached on making use of mutual opportunities

The Türkiye- Uzbekistan Business Forum, held by the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) and the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was attended by numerous Turkish and Uzbek officials and businessmen operating in various fields. Speaking at the forum, which opened the door to investment opportunities, MÜSİAD President Kaan noted that Uzbekistan, with its population of more than 30 million, its strategic location and its rich cultural values, is an important country in its region.

Attention to the USD 1 Trillion Project

Kaan stated that both countries have demonstrated a strong will in order to best reveal the economic potential Uzbekistan holds and to carry mutual commercial relations further Noting that the "One Belt One Road" project China is implementing also affects them in terms of its route and content, Kaan said: "In the project, which aims to connect China to Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America through a system of land and sea route networks, Türkiye and Uzbekistan are located at extremely strategic points due to their geographical positions. It is a fact that the project, which will encompass an investment of one trillion dollars and a population of more than three billion, will strengthen the global economy" he said.

A Half-Century Plan

Kaan stated that Türkiye and Uzbekistan, as the two important pillars of this major project which is predicted to shape the next 50 years, have to develop the right strategies in order to realize our future targets. Kaan said: "The work to be carried out here will make us both strong and the key countries of all trade routes and belts. Beyond being engaged in existing projects, we must be more effective by using the power and the cards in our hands in the most accurate way."

Adham İkramov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for his part said that Uzbekistan, the largest market in the region with its population of 33 million, is ready to provide all the necessary opportunities for Turkish businessmen. Within the scope of the business forum, bilateral business meetings were held between the businessmen of the two countries.

Uzbekistan Has Enormous Business and Trade Opportunities

MÜSİAD Uzbekistan Representative Alparslan Uçar, for his part, stated that MÜSİAD, which regards the extraordinary developments experienced in recent years in the relations between Türkiye and friendly and brotherly Uzbekistan as an opportunity, aimed by establishing its Uzbekistan representative office in this period to contribute to the development of commercial and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan and to lead and support the activities of Turkish entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan, a country of opportunity.

Recalling that the representative office, which rapidly began its activities, organized numerous events in a short time, Uçar emphasized that these events made a positive contribution to bilateral relations. Uçar said: "In Uzbekistan, which has rich natural resources, a young population and a qualified workforce, there are enormous business and trade opportunities in fields such as education, health, energy, the chemical industry, construction, agriculture, livestock and tourism."
