With the transfer of Bağlarbaşı Retail Marketing Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School to MÜSİAD, the MÜSİAD Retail Sector Board began work towards it becoming a project school so that the school's curriculum system is revised according to the conditions of the future. In addition, MÜSİAD aims to continue its cooperation with the İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education on various matters related to vocational high schools and, as far as possible, to organize meetings every week bringing students together with the leading figures of the sector. Furthermore, MÜSİAD takes as its mission to lead the way for the other sector boards operating within the institution and for other civil society organizations to open similar schools.

In addition to the Provincial Directorate of National Education, MÜSİAD also carries out work with the sector's leading civil society organizations such as the United Brands Association (BMD) and the Durable Consumption and White Goods Retailers Association (BEYPER). Views are exchanged by coming together from time to time with the executives of these civil society organizations. Project application classrooms in a shopping mall concept are being prepared by companies such as Armine, Gencallar and Karaca Züccaciye.

Objectives:

• To be a pioneer, as MÜSİAD, in the high-quality education Türkiye needs

• To raise the values that are necessary and sought after for the business world

• To provide education of a quality that can be an alternative to university

• To ensure that education conditions are always at a contemporary level

• To ensure that MÜSİAD sets an example and provides inspiration to other civil society organizations and various institutions

Today, along with developing technology, developments and innovations are also occurring in various professions. In addition to the necessity of an education system integrated with technological developments, the increase in the need for a qualified labour force has made vocational and technical education compulsory today. The İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education has also implemented a project on this matter.

The Project Is Employment-Oriented

Within the framework of the “Thematic Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools” project implemented by the İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, talks were held with various institutions and organizations such as the İstanbul Chamber of Industry, the İstanbul Chamber of Commerce and the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association. Following these talks, it was determined that brand schools specialized in a single field were needed. Following the talks held with sector representatives, the framework of the project was set and the opportunity arose to open a thematic vocational high school oriented towards a single sector. Across Türkiye, 18 thematic high schools that will provide education in this way, 7 of them located in İstanbul, were opened.

With this project, both the schools' access to knowledge and technology and the sharing of experience by sector representatives at the high schools in question are ensured. In addition, employment opportunities are offered to students graduating from these high schools, which are in close relations with the sectors. This project, which is an employment-oriented undertaking, also prepares the ground for the sectors to build infrastructure in terms of human resources.

In addition to its work aimed at Retail and Marketing Department students, MÜSİAD also supported the School-Industry Cooperation Model project of İstanbul Deputy Provincial Director of National Education Serkan Gür. Afterwards, when İstanbul Provincial Director of National Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci developed the School-Industry Cooperation Model with the Thematic High School Project, taking into consideration the importance of vocational high schools in Türkiye's development, MÜSİAD also decided to take part in this work. Thus, MÜSİAD signed a protocol with the İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education. With this protocol, Bağlarbaşı Retail Marketing Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was transferred to MÜSİAD.
