The Uzbekistan delegation headed by Normat Tursunov, Governor of the Navoiy Region of Uzbekistan, visited the MÜSİAD Head Office in order to exchange views on Türkiye-Uzbekistan commercial relations and regional activities. Consultations on bilateral relations were held at the meeting, which was attended by MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, Export Development Commission Chairman Ahmet Cihaner and MÜSİAD members.
Under the chairmanship of MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, Export Development Commission Chairman Ahmet Cihaner and MÜSİAD members came together with the Uzbekistan Delegation. The MÜSİAD Uzbekistan Office was touched upon and MÜSİAD's national and international activities were discussed. President Mahmut Asmalı spoke about the Gulf Delegation trip made with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and about the economic talks he held during the day with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. The steps taken for the development of Türkiye's commercial potential were discussed.
MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, for his part, said in his speech: “Trade removes all borders and puts an end to hostilities. Working in coordination with our MÜSİAD Uzbekistan Branch located in Uzbekistan, we will strive to develop the trade volume between us.”
Normat Tursunov, Governor of the Navoi Province of Uzbekistan, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with the successful contacts held in Türkiye. Giving prominent information about the Navoi Region and Uzbekistan in his speech, Tursunov continued his remarks as follows: “The Navoi region is the second largest region of Uzbekistan and has a dynamic young population. 17 percent of industry and 8 percent of GNP is in this region. There are great opportunities in the region in terms of many sectors, led by mining, the chemical industry, textiles, agriculture, electronics and tourism. This region stands out in Uzbekistan with its free zone work. A safe investment environment can be offered to Turkish investors. In this context, we will hold the Navoi-Türkiye Business Forum in September 2023.”
In his speech, Governor Tursunov expressed that they follow MÜSİAD's development in the world and that they wish to cooperate with MÜSİAD, and voiced the proposal to establish a joint industrial zone. Emphasizing that they wish to work jointly with MÜSİAD on matters such as green transformation, Tursunov continued his remarks as follows:
“Of course, green energy is developing in Uzbekistan. There are thermal water resources in the Navoi Region. These resources provide an advantage in the tourism and energy sectors. We are ready for cooperation with MÜSİAD in this field, as in other matters. We also expect cooperation on digital matters. There are already jointly developed projects in the agriculture sector.”
Normat Tursunov, Governor of Navoi Province, stated that he personally attends to foreign investors and strives to meet all their needs and that they will provide every kind of support.
