23 April 1920 is the blessed day on which, with the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, it was proclaimed to the whole world that sovereignty belongs to the nation, and which represents on the page of history the rebirth of the Turkish Nation. At the same time, this day, which was dedicated to all the children of the world, is a breath that once again instils hope in us in these difficult times when we, as a nation, need to embrace one another and to be united more than ever.
In these days when we have grown apart from one another because of the social isolation required by the Covid-19 Pandemic, we will not spend 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day with a heavy heart in spite of everything; without allowing physical distances to separate us in our hearts, we will celebrate it with enthusiasm and affection as if we were together.
While we raise our children, our most precious treasures, with the excitement and hope we feel for the future, we too, as adults, once again remember the duties that fall upon us and, with the awareness of our responsibilities, we continue to work with all our strength in order to leave them a fairer and more beautiful world. Besides being business people, we know that, as children of this nation, we owe a debt of loyalty to the lands in which we were raised. With this awareness, in these troubled days through which we are passing, we also consider it our duty to continue on our path by working and producing more and by instilling hope in our entire nation, beginning with those closest to us. We always carry within us the excitement of a hundred years ago and the hope of the future.
Without forgetting for a single moment that our ancestors protected these lands without losing hope despite the thousand and one hardships they endured and the evil designs directed against us, we believe that these days too shall pass and that we will walk together into the future once again in brighter days. We know that we share this belief with all the good people of our country and that we are not alone, and with the inner peace this brings we work undaunted and tirelessly, and we will continue to work.
On this occasion, I celebrate with my most sincere feelings the 100th anniversary of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day, and I embrace with love our children, who are the key to our future.
