Kartal Atalar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School

MÜSİAD, which has undertaken many projects for the growth and development of Türkiye, brought the Furniture and Design Department of the Atalar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the district of Kartal into being within the scope of its “patron school” project

MÜSİAD, which has undertaken many projects for the growth and development of Türkiye, accelerated the establishment of thematic high schools in order to meet the need for “qualified intermediate staff” greatly required by the business world. Within the scope of the “patron school” project, MÜSİAD brought the Furniture and Design Department of the Atalar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the district of Kartal into being on 2 February 2019.

The MÜSİAD Furniture and Design Department of the Atalar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was made ready as the result of roughly six months of intensive work. The fundamental aim here is to increase the trained workforce, the most important problem of the furniture sector, and to meet the sector’s need for qualified intermediate staff. In this context, our work first identified the best-equipped school in İstanbul in the field of furniture and design. Subsequently, a road map and a curriculum were determined at workshops organized with the contributions of the school principal and its esteemed teachers. The Furniture and Design Department was then redesigned on the basis of the modern conditions required by the age, with the support of Türkiye’s leading NGOs such as the Furniture Federation and the İstanbul Chamber of Commerce. In our department, everything from the supply of the necessary raw materials to the clothing the students will wear is provided down to the finest detail, with the aim of ensuring that our students develop and become professionals in their fields. In addition, the first three students who succeed and rank highest are taken to the Milan Fair, the sector’s largest fair, so that their professional competence may be enhanced. Students are also provided with internship opportunities at member companies of MÜSİAD, helping them to find employment more easily in the future.
